What Is the Keto Diet? Experts Weigh In... and Celebs Sound Off

Vicki Gunvalson's daughter Briana Culberson and son-in-law Ryan Culberson committed to the Keto diet about a year ago, and they've gotten major results: They've lost a staggering 112 pounds combined — but weight loss alone is far from the only benefit The Real Housewives of Orange County couple have been able to report as a result of their lifestyle change.

Ryan regularly takes time to engage with fans and followers — and the Keto curious — on his Instagram, which is largely centered around the diet, offering recipes and advice.

On a recent snap of the couple looking lithe and glowing, one follower commented with a question — as well as a personal story: "I am having my thyroid and some lymph nodes removed soon. Have Graves as well as a mass. Did Keto change how Briana felt (energy, medicine stabilized, etc.)? It is all overwhelming and I have an 8 year old boy."

Ryan took a moment to personally respond — and his answer was very encouraging and unequivocal. "Of course. It's the main reason to be on it. Dramatic drop in inflammation!" he wrote.

In fact, Vicki recently told OK that Briana is "concentrated on her health" — and is now just "in great place."
