Meghan King Edmonds has said she's incredibly sad following a report that alleges husband Jim Edmonds cheated on her.
A source told E! News of the ring removal, "She's not wearing her ring right now as she navigates the rough waters of repairing her marriage. She's fully married to Jimmy and loves him deeply despite not wearing her ring right now."
So what does it mean when you're married and you remove your ring? You're still married, so what are you saying?
One jeweler took to Quora to offer up an interesting answer.
"The ring is a symbol of what binds a couple — and the symbolic removal could indicate a few things such as, that they want out of the relationship at this point, to indicate that the other person has hurt them, the other person is not living up to their expectations. Noting that the person removing the ring might be doing it to intimidate the other person," the commenter said.
Another wrote, "Some people do remove their wedding ring after a fight or if they are upset with their spouse. The reason behind this is because it’s a way of making their spouse feel insecure about the marriage. Taking off the wedding ring is a kind of threat that they want out of the marriage. This makes the guilty spouse feel terrible about upsetting their significant other especially if they don’t want to end the marriage."
A third said, "Jewelry contains sentiment, emotion, meaning, etc. in a way that no other object can, and wearing jewelry connects people with these sentiments and emotions. People often remove their wedding ring when they are angry with their spouse because they are having feelings and emotions that directly conflict with what the ring represents."
One divorce site has some advice on the ring dilemma.
"Whatever decision is made about taking off rings and what to do with them, remember that it may be as important as the decision to marry in the first place. Therefore, the act of removing rings and choosing how to put them down or away is best approached jointly with mutual thoughtfulness and consideration."
