We woke up this morning like we have every day for the last month — springing from bed, throwing open our window and yelling out into the streets, “Excuse me, child, what day is today?” and once we’ve heard the day’s date we mutter to ourselves, “The Real Housewives of New York City premiere! We haven’t missed it!” This has been our new normal since the trailer for season 10 dropped. We are just so excited for all the marathons, word-slurring, jail(!?) and whatever the reason for yelling while dressed like flappers is that we can hardly contain ourselves.
Maybe we can channel our excitement in a way that won’t make our neighbors hate us — by reviewing their pets so we're ready so, by the time the premiere rolls around, we can spot with an expert eye that it is clearly, Coco, going to the bathroom on Dorinda’s carpet and never, ever Lucy.
Below, reacquaint yourselves with pets you’ve seen tottering around the Berkshires, hanging from the curtains and chomping on some undies. (And if you are unclear which pets each of these statements applies to, well you need this recap more than anyone! Are you even a fan!? Bro, do you even housewives?!)
Bethenny Frankel has two Lhasa Apsos named Biggy and Smallz. While they are adorable budding Instagram stars in their own right, how can we talk about Bethenny’s pets without mentioning the dearly departed Cookie? Even though she is no longer with us, she’s as much a part of Bethenny as Skinny Girl.
Carole Radziwill is the woman that launched a thousand pets named “Baby.” She is dog mom to the goldendoodle Baby (who is famously dog shared with two other people) and also two cats Baby Blue and Baby Belle. What you may not know about Carole is she has another pet NOT named Baby — a nine-year-old Boxer named Margaret.
Dorinda Medley is passionate about three things: Christmas, her dry cleaner boo John and her chocolate-colored pooch Lucy. Lucy hasn’t had much of an Instagram presence lately but we’re sure that whatever she’s up to someone, somewhere is yelling at Lucy’s dogwalker, “What are you doing here without Dorinda?”
Luann de Lesseps has “been traveling, been to prison and just wants to be close to home” presumably to be near her Westie Aston. Lu is cool, never like uncool, and her pup follows her footsteps, taking it literally and loving the snow.
Ramona Singer’s Shih Tzu Coco is a lot like her mom. They both love love, are very independent-minded women and also are maybe not the best houseguests. Ramona has been known to aggressively redecorate as a guest in another’s home (by ripping a lighting fixture off the wall) and, as for Coco, let’s just say, watch where you step … even if you think you’re safe treading on indoor carpet.
Sonja Morgan likes her pets like she likes her men — French! She has two Poodles named Rouge and Marley, and also a cat named Tigre. (We have no comment on sometimes boyfriend Frenchie at this time — or on what she means when she calls them "French Poodles.")
Tinsley Mortimer may be looking to settle down and start a family, but she already has one in Chihuahua Bambi. Tinsley is a frequent Humane Society of New York volunteer so maybe there is a chance she will add to her brood with some adopted furry siblings.
