We all know our beloved Housewives have a passion for style and luxury, particularly when it comes to their homes. Recording studios! Indoor pools! Hibachi tables! Wrapping paper rooms! 16 bathrooms! But what about elevators? We know they're a must for many of our The Real Housewives of New York City ladies. Ramona Singer, Dorinda Medley, and Tinsley Mortimer (to name a few) all currently live in luxury full service buildings with an elevator and doorman.
For most people who don’t inhabit a high-rise, however, in-home elevators are non-existent. But Housewives aren't most people! Sure, a lift may seem like a bit of a splurge, but there are some practical reasons for installing one in a home. After all, who wants to lug all those bags from Saks up three flights of stairs? We kid, we kid. But seriously, private elevators increase property values, so these ladies are actually making smart investments by installing them in their homes. Below, take a look at all the Housewives' elevators that we’ve seen (so far!), and fair warning: They’re as glamorous as the ladies themselves.
Kameron Westcott’s Beaver Creek Vacation Home
The Westcott Family mansion in Beaver Creek, Colorado is beyond fancy. Designed by Kameron Westcott’s mother-in-law (and enjoyed by the likes of Taylor Swift!), the elevator is one of the main statement pieces of the home. Spanning five floors, Kameron refers to the elevator as “Willy Wonka-esque." It's a popular attraction for any kiddos who visit her home. Even Kameron’s beloved dogs plant themselves at the elevator door when they want to take a ride!
Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s Atlanta Home
Oh, the irony! The best part about the elevator in Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s expansive Atlanta home? She and oldest daughter Brielle refuse to ride in it! Kim and Brielle were once stuck together in an elevator, so whether in their home (or in a luxury hotel penthouse), The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum and her Don’t Be Tardy daughter prefer the stairs. However, don’t worry about whether Kim is finding good use for her elevator. She has admitted to using hers for a quickie with husband Kroy Biermann before. She also used it as a secret place to stash holiday gifts for her large brood. That’s one pricey storage locker.
Jennifer Aydin’s Paramus, New Jersey Home
During Season 9 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, one of the most memorable scenes involved newbie Jennifer Aydin giving the other Housewives a tour of her Paramus, New Jersey expanse. It’s hard to forget the thrones, chandeliers, and indoor basketball court, let alone all 16 bathrooms. One item that Jennifer thought was overlooked during the episode? Her elevator. During her visit to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Andy Cohen asked her about the craziest aspect of her home that wasn’t shown during the episode. “The elevator!” Jennifer quickly quipped. We couldn’t agree more—is a home really a palace if there’s no elevator?
Sonja Morgan’s NYC Townhouse
Before RHONY’s Sonja Morgan rented out her Manhattan townhouse (for full ask!), she was lucky enough to enjoy its in-home elevator. During a tour of the townhouse, Sonja noted having an elevator in her five-story townhouse is “a real luxury” and “it’s also a real savior!” While we’re sure it certainly was a luxury for Sonja, one person who wasn’t quite allowed to enjoy said elevator? One-time house guest Tinsley. Just as talking to interns and feeding Sonja’s cherished dogs were off limits during her Season 9 stay, so was taking the elevator!
Heather Dubrow’s California Dumbwaiter
OK, OK, a dumbwaiter is not a full elevator, per se, but we’re including it in our list anyway, because it’s totally luxurious! Real Housewives of Orange County alum Heather Dubrow decided to add the amenity to Dubrow Chateau (aka her 22,000-square-foot mansion) to add efficiency to the family’s shopping. “You drive into our garage downstairs, and you open a door, and you put all the groceries in, and you press a button, and they show up here… right in the pantry, ready to be put away! Isn’t that amazing?” Yup, truly amazing.
