For Dorinda Medley, this year has been all about acceptance. The Real Housewives of New York City mom bid adieu to the two-bedroom apartment she shared with daughter Hannah and moved out of her longtime nabe (the Upper East Side, of course!). “I moved to this incredible building, The Oriana, and I’m so happy there,” Dorinda told us when she recently chatted with Home & Design. “I feel very settled. [And] the neighborhood is much more like a little London neighborhood. I walk everywhere. It’s fresh, it’s bright, it’s on the river, and I feel so happy. I really don’t see myself moving back to the Upper East Side again.”
But what brought on the move? Well, as Dorinda told us, it was simply time. “I decided to move because I think it was the final piece to accepting my new life,” she explained. “I’ve been married, I’ve been divorced, I’ve been widowed, Hannah went to school and then Hannah moved out and I just felt like I needed to really make a change and to move is always the best way to do that.”
Truer words have never been spoken! When looking for a fresh start, relocating is just about the biggest and best way to do that. But Dorinda will always remember her old ’hood with the fondest of memories. “You know, the Upper East Side was really so kind to us,” she said. “It’s where Hannah went to school, it’s where she grew up… but we grew out of it.”
While in her new abode, Dorinda’s been busy organizing her apartment and hosting a Valentine’s Day party for the building. Something tells us she’s already hard at work making new memories in the city she loves so much.
