The Major League Baseball playoffs are here and all eyes are on the players vying for a spot in the 2013 World Series. But how many—if any—of these professional athletes are in the closet?
Andy Cohen asked ex-NFL star (and current Live With Kelly and Michael co-host) Michael Strahan point-blank about the issue of gay athletes on last night's Watch What Happens Live, wondering whether there are indeed any gay baseball players?
"Of course. There are gay baseball players, there are gay football players, there are gay basketball players," Strahan says.
The morning host admitted he doesn't have any first-hand experience: "There are some I've heard about, stories I've heard. Am I confirming them, have I been there? No. But I've heard things."
But he insisted that professional athletes' comfort with gays matches the wider world's acceptance. "I think at this point in the landscape of sports, people understand. Anybody with common sense understands people are different," he says. "What you do as a person at home doesn't determine how you do your job. As athletes we understand that."
In fact, he thinks the locker room is a "space place."
"We pat each other on the ass all the time, that's what we do," he says. "Who cares!"
Watch Michael Strahan talk about gay athletes in major league sports and tell us in the comments: do you think there are gay baseball players who haven't come out yet?
