The Real Housewives of New York City cabaret singer addressed her recent legal woes during an interview with DailyMailTV. "I went back [to court] because I had violated my probation because I slipped," she explained.
Luann said in a statement to PEOPLE following her court appearance in May: "I am now looking forward to completing my remaining few months of probation. I want to put this behind me and move forward with my life.”
Luann told DailyMailTV that maintaining her sobriety remains a daily challenge. "I struggle with alcohol like everybody does except I have no room for error,' she shared. "That's a very difficult way to live under the spotlight. I was able to turn that around. I take my sobriety very seriously and I'm working day by day."
As DailyMailTV also points out, that's a mantra Luann has also included in her new single, "Feelin' Jovani": "One day at a time. Keep your cool and you'll be fine/One day at a time. Keep your cool, don't lose your mind."
Luann also explained that she hasn't been acting self-centered this season of RHONY, as some of her fellow New York Housewives have accused her of, but rather, it's her putting all of her focus on her recovery.
"What the women don't understand is how difficult it is to be around all that drinking and partying and there was a lot of drinking going on," she told DailyMailTV. "I just needed to take care of my sobriety. It might look like I was being selfish - yes, I was. I had to take care of me. I think they may have thought that's my diva behavior there's nothing diva about me. I'm the same old Lu."
Sonja Morgan and Dorinda Medley shared their reaction to Luann's recent court appearance when they stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 12. "We all want nothing but recovery for her," Dorinda shared.
