Look Inside the Craziness That Is the Beverly Hilton on Golden Globes Night

The frenetic scene swells a single luxury hotel to a mini-city of 6,000.

The Golden Globes make for an unusually bonkers party scene in Los Angeles, even by award season standards.

That’s because a single luxury hotel is the epicenter of all the fuss each year. (By contrast, parties fan out all over town to fete other major telecasts, for instance the Oscars.) The Beverly Hilton, a historic hotel situated at Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards in Beverly Hills, hosts not just the ceremony but most of the big night’s parties, too.

Here’s a glimpse into what the hotel, a moderately sized historic property with 569 rooms and suites, looks like in the center of the fray — and what will be happening behind the scenes of the TV broadcasts on Sunday.

First of all, the hotel’s horseshoe-shaped driveway becomes a massive arrivals line to rival any other in the world: 30,000 square feet of red carpet line the driveway and entrance. Close to 200 media outlets capture the scene in a hail of camera flashes, coiled cables, and shouting meant to grab celebs’ attention for the perfect shot.

The main event takes over the hotel’s legendary International Ballroom, with 1,300 A-list-only guests supping on filet, and dessert with golden detailing — not to mention Moët cocktails that could prove to be dangerous for the spill prone.

But those seated in the ballroom are far from the only guests populating the hotel on Globes night: With the majority of the biggest parties in town taking place right on property, an additional 3,000 people pass through serious security to get inside for viewing- and after-parties. Hot-ticket bashes include those from In Style and HBO.

Digital signage in the lobby announces the locations of the various fetes, and the crowd swishes swiftly on their stilettos to the location that matches their coveted invite.

The Beverly Hilton has been the home of the Golden Globes a total of 45 times... and for the last 41 consecutive years. And on the big night, you can expect the population of this one luxe hotel to swell to 6,000.

That’s a lot of star wattage in tight coordinates.

Did your pulse just quicken a bit?
