If there's one thing we learned in Monday night's episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, it's that promising white glove service and then not delivering on it is a surefire way to make Captain Sandy Yawn angry.
The interior team felt the wrath of their Below Deck Med boss when she heard that they did not do the white glove service after Aesha Scott suggested the idea. Aesha had originally presented the idea to Captain Sandy, who gave her two thumbs up to move forward. But then when the second stew suggested it to Hannah Ferrier, she nixed the idea, not knowing about the conversation Aesha had with Captain Sandy.
Aesha later realized it was a mistake to tell Captain Sandy about her idea before checking with Hannah first. "Just to clear up the white glove thing. Hannah was on her break when I thought of it so I thought I’d ask Sandy instead and fill Han in when she got back. I should have waited and asked her first. It was totally fine Han didn’t want to!" she explained on Twitter Monday night. "It was such a chill thing, if I knew how big it would get made I never would have [brought] it up. Mountains out of molehills and all that. I only intended it as a possible party thought, not the be all and end all of the night."
Hannah clarified why she didn't want the stews to do white glove service during the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 After Show, which you can view, above. "It was honestly a very, it was very easy for that not to have happened," she said. "But basically, I came off break and Aesha said, 'Do you want to use white gloves?' And the white gloves we had on board, I didn't think they were very nice to have in front of guests because usually white gloves, when you do white glove service, they're kind of tight-ish around [the wrist]. But because these white gloves are so old there was a gap, so it kind of just looked a bit strange, so I kind of just brushed it aside."
The chief stew added that if she had known how much the white glove service meant to Captain Sandy, she absolutely would have done it. "Unfortunately, Aesha didn't say, 'Oh, Sandy said we should do it,' so I literally thought it was just bouncing off each other," Hannah said. "But honestly, if she'd said, 'Sandy said she wants to do white gloves,' cool, we do white glove service because she's my captain. So what she says goes."
The third member of the interior team, Anastasia Surmava, said that she doesn't believe Captain Sandy's criticism of their service and tablescapes was valid. "We did everything else great," she said during the Below Deck Med After Show. "She needed something to be mad about."
