Our favorite line from Patricia Altschul — actually, this might just be our favorite line from anyone, ever — is when she was asked what the key to a good party is and the Southern Charm matriarch replied, “Good liquor and lots of it!”
Known for throwing decades of elegant soirees, from dinner parties to backyard parties to cocktail parties, Patricia opened the doors of her famed Charleston mansion, the Isaac Jenkins Mikell House, once again this week to her fellow Bravolebrity, Below Deck's Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife, Mary Anne. Who else was there? The Southern Charm crew, of course!
In true Patricia fashion, she hosted the group in her famous drawing rooms at dusk, which made the room’s apple green walls stand out even more. (“You might think the color is a bit strange, it’s called apple green, but it’s very cheery and it looks good day, night, cloudy,” Patricia has said of the room’s paint choice. Want that hue for yourself? Check it out here!)
Patricia supplied Home & Design with some intimate shots from the party, and in them we're spying even more of her design aesthetic. (Like those dishes hanging on her walls!) Check out all the party details below and be sure to tune into Southern Charm on Wednesdays at 9/8c.
What’s our favorite part about Patricia’s drawing rooms? The myriad seating options! And because she’s so design savvy, she’s got side tables galore for her guests to place their glasses amidst conversation. (Cameran Eubanks, Shep Rose and Danni Baird are lookin' good, too!)
The cocktail party was a quiet affair, with a few dozen attendees and a waiter serving drinks atop a round tray. Say it with us, folks: Fan-cy!
What's a better selfie backdrop for two Bravolebrities than some apple green walls?
Things we never quite noticed about Patricia's drawing room before — how humongous her sofa is, and how ornate that gold-encrusted mirror/candelabra on the wall above it is.
Fun fact: Prior to Patricia inhabiting the home, the Isaac Jenkins Mikell House was a Charleston public library for more than 30 years. Patricia keeps the building alive by constantly entertaining friends, family, locals, and visitors alike.
Need more proof that the house is primed for entertaining? Patricia said, “You’ll discover that there are three bars just on this floor — because honey, you’re down south!”
French doors leading to the property's piazza (aka "porch") flood the drawing room with natural light. The result is an open and airy space perfect for myriad conversations, cocktails, and canapes. We can't wait to see who from the Bravo family Patricia decides to entertain next!
