8 Adorable Dogs Who Work (or Just Hang Out) Full Time in Luxury Hotels

In no particular order: They're all very good dogs.

There are pet-friendly hotels... and then there are hotels that put pets to work! These properties count canines amongst their staff... or give them a pass to hang out full time among luxury travelers and earn their keep just by being cute for passersby.

1. Mr. Walker at Park Hyatt, Melbourne

In July the Park Hyatt in Melbourne, Australia hired its first Canine Ambassador. Mr. Walker, a yellow labrador, is a former guide dog. According to the hotel, he "embarked upon a career change after deciding his affectionate nature and extraordinary people skills were better suited to the life of an Ambassador." Now, his official duties include greeting guests, attending very important client meetings, and advocating for the Guide Dogs Victoria cause.

2. Parker at Park Hyatt Chicago

One of the first to congratulate Mr. Walker on his new position was Parker the one-eyed Pug resident of Park Hyatt Chicago. Parker was adopted last year from PAWS Chicago after being found in as a stray in Tennessee. Now he lives a charmed life, snoozing in his plush doggy bed and greeting guests while wearing a Burberry bandana.

3. Monti the Beagle at The Jefferson, DC

Monti (or Lord Monticello to give him his full title) started out as a "nameless little beagle from the streets of Virginia." Now he's the Jefferson's C.E.O. (Canine Executive Officer), a title he's held since 2014, which means he greets guests in the lobby — while angling for a few back scratches. He's also the hotel's official mascot, has his own Instagram and was apparently a candidate in the 2016 election. Most recently he's been spotted penning an exclusive article for American Way.

4. Bachelor and Scout at Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch

Two gentle Bernese Mountain Dogs, Bachelor and Scout, greet visitors to Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch by the slopes of Beaver Creek Mountain. Both pup ambassadors make regular lobby visits and accompany guests on guided hikes in the snowy outdoors with the hotel's resident naturalist.

5. Monty and Parker at Montage Deer Valley

Farther west, and deep into the forested slopes of Deer Valley, Utah, two Bernese Mountain Dogs named Monty and Parker put smiles on the faces of guests at this plush Park City resort. If you fall in love with the cute pups (who wouldn't?) you can even take them home (in cuddly toy format).

6. Canine Ambassadors at Fairmont Hotels

Eleven hotels in the Fairmont brand are served by adorable Canine Ambassadors. From Vancouver to Boston, Scottsdale and even Mount Kenya, these dogs are happy to accompany guests on walks — just email the dog first, on its own email address, to arrange a suitable time. Much like humans working in the hotel biz, being a canine ambassador brings travel perks: Just ask Smudge the Golden Retriever who started in her post at the Fairmont St Andrews, Scotland then crossed the pond to work at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton.

7. Directors of Pet Relations at Kimpton Hotels

Not only does the Kimpton brand offer possibly the best pet-friendly policy in the U.S — it welcomes any pet that "fits through the door" (not just dogs), with no size or weight restrictions or limit on numbers at no additional cost — but they also have a team of Directors of Pet Relations. At six Kimpton hotels, from Boston to San Diego, you can meet these cute dogs who "eagerly greet guests in our lobbies, quality test our pet amenities, and lord over the nightly wine hours."

8. Shadow at Jamaica Inn, Ocho Rios

Lucky Shadow, Jamaica Inn's resident black lab, gets to spend her days on the beach, running, chasing balls, taking naps in the shade and, from time to time, trying her paws at paddleboarding.
