Say it ain't so! Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced their separation on Thursday, Feb. 15, and sources are now saying that the demise of the Hollywood It couple's two-year marriage might've been exacerbated by the two cities in their lives: Los Angeles and New York City.
An anonymous source told Entertainment Tonight that bicoastal life might've caused Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's breakup. It reportedly created a lot of tension, because Theroux prefers New York and Aniston prefers Los Angeles.
He apparently tried to make the East Coast more inviting to her by attempting to protect her privacy.
"He really wanted her to be comfortable [in New York]," the source told ET. "He even negotiated with the paps to make a deal that they would only shoot her once per day and then leave her alone. He also agreed to move out of his apartment, which he loves."
The source says she usually preferred to stay in an uptown hotel rather than his Greenwich Village pad and might've also been pissed off by something ET dubbed "the bologna incident." (Basically Theroux found slices of the lunch meat plastered all over his motorcycle, and according to the source, Aniston thought the neighbors did it.)
"She just never really could get settled in, she wasn't happy [in New York]," they said.
The couple confirmed their decision to part ways at the end of last year in a statement released by Aniston's publicisit, Stephen Huvane, via the Associated Press on Thursday, Feb. 15. It reads:
"Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another."
So sad, but at least Aniston has her stunning Los Angeles pad to run home to.
