8 Free Airline Perks You Didn't Know Existed

It’s hard to believe that Cyber Monday has already been around for over a decade. Seems like just yesterday we had no choice but to get dressed at 3 a.m. to go stomp all over our neighbors in order to get the best deal on beepers at a big box store.

But now, the Powers That Create Commercial Holidays have added one more day to extend the shopping week. Introducing: Travel Deals Tuesday.

Travel app Hopper (which helps users find the cheapest days to fly) has analyzed its purchase data and found that activity always spikes the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Why? Because by the time Thanksgiving is over, most people have already booked all their holiday travel — and as such, airlines offer steep discounts to counteract dying demand.

So sure, maybe you already booked your flight home to St. Louis for Christmas, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also buy a cheapo winter trip to Belize as an early holiday gift for yourself, right?

Hopper predicts the following price ranges for Travel Deal Tuesday 2017:

  • Flights to Central and South America: $300–$400
  • Flights to the U.K. and Europe: $500–$600
  • Flights to Asia: $600–$750
  • Domestic U.S. (excluding Hawaii): Under $300

That said, you’ll want to search for your flights early — 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST is ideal — because the best discounts will go quickly. But hey, at least you don’t have to get dressed and stand in a waiting stampede in order to snatch these deals.
