Art Series Hotels, a luxury hotel chain in Australia, is letting it all hang out with its new promotion. Or, more specifically, it's asking guests to do just that, as part of its newest campaign that asks visitors to post naked selfies (well, naked enough, but still Instagram legal) and use the hashtag #norobe. The photos should encapsulate the idea of "being free" within the hotel (get it?) and in exchange, all 'grammers who do it will be in the running to win a gift card to a free night's stay at one of their swanky hotels. (So you got that right — it's not even guaranteed.)
The campaign's bolder original form, "No Robe Package," includes a one-night stay and a unique photo op: During their stay, guests can request hotel staff to deliver camera equipment to their rooms, where they can snap their own sexy selfies using a timer. Photos are then sent via an encrypted link to artists, who draw the subjects remotely from their own studios, and then send the resulting artwork to the guest. Then, the original photos are deleted permanently.
The latest Instagram contest evolved from that racier version, and is just right for folks who don't quite want to bear it all, but are still willing to play along — especially if a potential freebie is in the mix.
So is it working?
Well, we searched the hashtag #norobe and it came up pretty darn sparse — so perhaps people are more modest then the hotel banked on!
Nevertheless, the hotel chain has won awards in the past for its unique campaigns, which are typically artsy and cheeky.
We can only imagine what's next.
